Life Christian Church
Worship Team Expectations

As a part of the Worship Team at Life Christian Church, you play a crucial role in facilitating an atmosphere where our congregation can connect with God in a meaningful way. Your contribution, whether through music, vocals, or technical support, is more than a performance; it's an act of service and worship. The guidelines and expectations outlined below are designed to foster a spirit of excellence, commitment, and unity within our team. They reflect our collective responsibility to prepare our hearts and minds, as well as our skills, to lead others in worship. By adhering to these principles, we ensure that our team operates smoothly, our services are impactful, and our worship is genuine. Together, we can create a worship experience that glorifies God, edifies the church, and deepens our faith. Thank you for your dedication to this ministry and for your willingness to serve with integrity, passion, and joy.

Spiritual Expectations

Worship Truthfully - John 4:21-24
While speaking with the woman at the well, Jesus explains the importance of worshiping God truthfully.  It’s easy to become caught up in religion and tradition and to forget the true reasons behind our actions.  As a member of the Life Christian Worship Team, be encouraged to worship God truthfully, both on the stage and off.  Remember, don’t let the words you sing be a lie, and don’t just put on a show.  Let your heart be open and honest before God.

Lead by Example - Matthew 7:15-20, John 13:34-35
Jesus emphasizes the significance of exhibiting a life that yields positive outcomes and demonstrates genuine discipleship through love. In Matthew, He warns against false prophets and teaches us to recognize them by their fruits—essentially instructing us to live lives that produce good, recognizable fruit in alignment with God’s will. Meanwhile, in John, He commands us to love one another, stating that it is by this love we will be identified as His followers. As part of the Life Christian Worship Team, leading by example is paramount. This means embodying the teachings of Christ in every aspect of our lives, not just when we are on stage but in our everyday interactions. Your life is a testament to your faith, and through love, patience, kindness, and integrity, you can inspire those around you. Let the love of Christ guide your actions and decisions, so that others may see His light through you and be drawn to Him. Embrace the responsibility to bear good fruit and love earnestly, as these are the true marks of leadership in the kingdom of God.

Be Spirit-led - Galatians 5:16-26
In his letter to the Galatians, Paul exhorts believers to walk by the Spirit and not gratify the desires of the flesh. The fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—outlines the character traits that should permeate our lives, including our service in worship. As members of the Life Christian Worship Team, you are encouraged to be led by the Spirit in every aspect of your ministry. This means seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit in preparing for services and interacting with one another. Let the fruit of the Spirit be evident in your life, both individually and collectively, as you lead the congregation in worship. By being Spirit-led, you ensure that your service is not only a performance but a true act of worship that pleases God.

Practical Expectations

Be Prepared - 2 Timothy 2:15
Preparation is key in all areas of life, especially in ministry. As members of the worship team, being prepared means knowing your music, arriving at rehearsals with parts learned, and being spiritually ready to lead others in worship. It shows respect for God's time, the congregation's time, and the time of your fellow team members. Let us strive to be diligent in our preparation, so that we may offer our best to God in every service.

Be On Time - Ecclesiastes 3:1
Punctuality reflects our commitment to God and to our role in the worship team. Being on time for rehearsals, services, and other team commitments demonstrates respect for the time of others and the importance of the ministry we've been entrusted with. Let us honor God and each other by being punctual, acknowledging that our time is a gift from God to be stewarded wisely.

Be Courteous - Ephesians 4:32
Courtesy and kindness foster a positive and supportive environment, essential for any team, especially one dedicated to leading worship. This includes being respectful in communication, supportive of each other's efforts, and patient in dealing with challenges. As worship leaders, our conduct should model the grace and love of Christ, not only in our interactions with each other but also in how we engage with the congregation and church staff. Let us be a reflection of God's love through our courteous behavior.

Guidelines

Commitment to Serve
As part of the band or vocals, you'll be scheduled to serve one or two Sundays each month. On rare occasions, there may be a need for you to serve three times. As a part of the tech team, you’ll be scheduled to serve at least once a month. It's important that you're available for both services on the days you're scheduled. Additionally, we're introducing a monthly rehearsal night, mandatory for anyone in Band or Vocals roles. These rehearsals are crucial for our preparation and team cohesion.

Communicate Your Schedule
Life Christian Church leverages Planning Center Services for volunteer scheduling. This tool enables you to communicate your availability directly. We ask that you proactively enter your unavailable dates ("blockout" dates) in the app and strive to accept your service invitations. Effective communication helps us plan and ensures a smooth operation of our worship services.

Know Your Part
You are expected to learn and rehearse your parts before our collective Sunday morning gatherings. These pre-service meetings are designed to fine-tune our presentation, not for initial learning. Dedication to individual practice demonstrates your commitment to excellence and respect for the team's time.

Be on Time & Lend a Hand
Call time on Sunday mornings is at 8:15 AM. Please make every effort to arrive at the church by this time. Early mornings are busy with many tasks to prepare the stage and sanctuary for worship. If you're not immediately busy upon arrival, we encourage you to offer your help where it's needed. Teamwork in setup is as vital as our teamwork in worship.

Don't Forget to Smile
Worship leading is not only about the music or the technical aspects of our service; it's also about setting the tone for worship. Your smile is a powerful tool in creating a welcoming and joyous atmosphere. It reflects the joy and love we have in Christ and can significantly impact the congregation's worship experience. Whether on stage or off, remember to share your joy through your smile, inviting others into a deeper worship experience.

These guidelines are designed to help us serve with excellence, unity, and joy as we lead our congregation in worship. Thank you for your dedication and willingness to serve God and our church community in this vital ministry.
