Born in, and a resident of California for a little over 20 years, followed by 20 years on the Island of Hawaii, and now nearly 20 years in Las Vegas, Burton has decided that "home" is where you are at any given moment--as long as you've got Jesus' hand. As a son of a pastor, Burton was cultivated and educated for pastoral ministry in a fertile, faith-filled home. Practical ministry development took place primarily at Thy Word Ministries in Hawaii, followed by pastoral education from Trinity Bible College. Burton and Toni--his wife of over 40 years, have three grown children, Cameron (Laury), Emma, and Elizabeth, and three amazing grandchildren. All his life, Burton has had a thriving love for anything automotive related, and expresses that on a daily basis as general manager of Subaru of Las Vegas. With the Great Commission at the heart of his daily prayer and pursuit, he leads his staff to, "...Serve our customers as we should serve Christ". Oh...and Burton loves to sail!
OUR MINISTRY STAFF
My name is Rebecca Boyd, if you see me at The Smith Center, I am called Rebecca. Here at Life Christian Church, most everyone calls me Becky - which is perfectly acceptable. 🙂 I was born and raised in Indiana and have been happily married to my high school sweetheart, Josh, for more than 20 years. Josh and I have 3 children, Josiah, Rachel, and Joel who continue to amaze me every single day. Our family moved to Vegas in 2007 and I love this city! I have worked at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts since 2010 and feel very blessed to be part of such a great organization. I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies and hanging out with the guy I love most.
I was born in the cornfields of Indiana, but raised in the concrete jungle of Las Vegas. I have always been involved in ministry somehow because of my parents. Our family moved all over to work at different churches and I always contributed in one way or another, a lot of set-up and tear-down type stuff. Even though I grew up in church and helped out, it wasn’t until a couple years ago when I truly gave my life to the Lord at Youth Camp. When I came home, I hit the ground running. I immediately asked if I could re-start and lead our church’s Youth Group. My dad agreed, things took off and began to grow. After high school, I had to take a short break from running the Group because I joined the Army National Guard and had to head off to Basic Training. Now that I am back, I am serving in the Guard as a Religious Affairs Specialist (Chaplain’s Assistant) and will be starting classes at CSN. I am super happy to see where the Lord takes me and see what the future holds for LIFE Youth.
